A few years ago, I participated in a property exhibition. Feng Shui consultants normally do not participate in such exhibitions (too expensive) but I was given a tiny booth in an obscure corner, free as a ‘compensation’ for speaking at the event.
On day two, a Chinese lady drifted into my booth. I can see that her attention was still on the previous booth but her forward momentum somehow brought her physical body into mine (booth).
My over zealous temp staff quickly handed her a flyer which promotes my free Feng shui e-book for homebuyers. She took it instinctively without exploring the content. Then moment later she shriek, “Feng Shui!” and threw away the flyer as if it was tainted with anthrax powder!
I was taken aback but recovered quickly, in time to rush over and asked if she was okay. She explained to me that she is already practicing a religion and do not need another.
I thanked her, got back to my booth, sat down and asked myself, “When did Feng Shui become a religion?”

I once remember reading an article that said, “Classical Feng Shui systems do not conflict; they just operate at different levels”.
The reality is that there are conflicts between systems. For example you cannot apply Eight Mansions and Flying Stars simultaneously and hope to get the same result or one where the recommendations do not conflict.
However do they operate at different levels? At least between Eight Mansions and Flying Star, they do. Find out how.

A friend called this morning asking about sleeping directions.
He said he sleeps facing east because he is an East Life Group person. That is fine but his next question really puzzles me.
He said when he wakes up, he could be facing west and he wants to know if that is a problem. It took me a while to figure out that he reference his facing direction not by the crown of the head but by the direction that his face – literally – faces!
Here is an article on personal gua and sleeping direction that may interest you.

In the Xuan Kong Fei Xing (Flying Star) system, mountain stars govern relationships while water stars govern wealth.
The correct surrounding form e.g. water in the direction of the water star activates or gives a boost to your wealth. Also land at a lower level can be considered water – virtual water.
Mountain stars are activated when there is a mountain – real and otherwise - in the direction of the mountain star. If there is water in the direction of the mountain star, it signifies mountain falling into water and is bad for relationships.
Which brings me to my next question? Does it mean that apartment or condominium dweller – especially those living on high floors – have strong wealth luck and poor relationship luck? Why?
When you live on a high floor (more so if there are no taller building nearby), every direction you look is lower – signify water and wealth – which means that all current water stars are activated!
And since every direction is water, it means that all your current mountain stars have fallen into water – signify poor relationship!
This is food for thoughts and I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

Have you experienced a stretch of good years where things seem to go right? You put in the same effort in your career or to build wealth as with every other year but the result is much better than other years.
It is like you set sail and the wind is behind you. It is almost like you have the Midas touch- the things that you do turn to gold.
Yet during some other years, the effort does not bring any significant results.
Why. Find out in this article, “Fate, Luck and Feng Shui”.

According to the controlling cycle of the Five Elements, water controls fire. This is true in a balance environment i.e. there must be adequate water and the fire is not very large. You cannot put out a huge fire (forest fire) if you have very little water (like a bucket).
Let me give you another example. Water produces wood e.g. sprinkling water on plants promotes growth. However if there is too much water, the root of the plants become water-logged or drown and the plant eventually dies.
This advance concept relating to the strength of the elements is important in the study of Chinese metaphysics art such as Ba Zi and Chinese Medicine. You should take note of it.

Recently I gave a face reading talk at a ladies only event.
Immediately after my talk, the MC announced that it was time for retail therapy.
Maybe I have been living underneath a coconut shell for a while but I do not know what retail therapy means.
Do you?
Just in case you do not, it is shopping lah!

The San He Lo Pan has three rings of 24 mountains called the heaven, earth and man plate. They are offset from each other by 7.5 degree.
The San Yuan Lo Pan has only one 24 mountains ring. In addition the San Yuan Lo Pan has the 64 hexagrams divisions (for Xuan Kong Da Gua).
The typical San He Lo Pan has the 3 x 24 mountains rings but do not have the 64 hexagrams division.
Conversely the typical San Yuan Lo Pan has only one 24 mountains ring plus the 64 hexagrams divisions.
What if the Lo Pan has the 3 x 24 mountains ring plus the 64 hexagrams division? Then it is likely to be a ‘Chung He’ or combination Lo Pan.
Some people also call it the ‘2 in 1’ Lo Pan!!

I just learn that my neighbor’s daughter has given birth to a health son.
She and her elder brother were just kids when we moved into the house next to theirs years ago. Now they are both married and have kids of their own.
I thought to myself, “Wow, they have grown up”.
That I though further, “How do they see us?”
I am sure it must be something along the lines, “Wow, they have really aged!”
Why did I bring this up in a Feng Shui blog?
You see, it is all relative. When we say wood produce fire, we are speaking from the view point of fire. From fire’s perspective, wood makes it stronger.
However from wood’s perspective - in the process of producing fire – fire weakens wood.
This is important concept in the Five Elements and is the very reason why metal is used to combat the Five Yellow. You see, the five yellow is earth energy. Earth produces metal. By introducing metal into the area afflicted by five yellow, we are in fact weakening five yellow (earth qi) by asking earth to produce metal.
